Current Concerns :

Today the company has several objectives :

•  To have an international visibility and to know what's happening elsewhere. Annabel Guérédrat has mixed origins, an atypical evolution and some parents which were expatriated as researchers during several years in Africa and Pacific islands. That's why now she wants to meet other choreographers through the Caribbean islands, Europe, Latin America and Asia . To exchange with them on the process of creation in contemporary dance and how it's possible to promote the company in global art market.

•  Allow scores on her creations to participate to the repertory of French and Caribbean contemporary dance.

•  Continue artistic collaborations to have a broader vision of what contemporary creativity today. To think and to do it together, to adopt multimedia devices if necessary, to stay connected, to offer a new political vision, to go forward, to be open and to act worldwide.

In research, improvisation remains a great tool for choreographic and artistic collaboration. It is a way of experimentation providing the material for choreographic composition. Until now, many creations were designed in situ, as part of a research residency on the memory of the place. What is new is that dance creations are written as scores. This is an easy way to transmit to the dancers.

Today, the company offers to the audience dance creations written for the theatre which are transposable outdoors on unseemly sites.

Public and contemporary dance :

Artincidence has always asked the place of the audience in contemporary dance. Our answers come from practice and reflection.
First of all, dance is a sensitive experience shared with the audience. Annabel wants an immediate relationship: open our multiple perceptions as listening and seeing very carefully.

Dance is also a thought in action, eyes fixed on today's world. It is not time to awaken the collective memory with dance creations based on catharsis but it is time to debate, to act on the city, to be lucid, active and creative.

That is why, in addition to performances, we need open debate about our creative process and choice of device.

Resilience (to 1, 2, 3)
Creations 2007 - Company Artincidence

Choreography, Annabel Guérédrat
Music, Bedeckh
Lights, Solenn Montalescot
Scenery, Marguerite Herlant
Dancers, Sylvie Klinger, Mani Mungaï, Annabel Guérédrat

Forcing an uncomfortable pose on the body, she tests its resilience, this physical property by which materials recover their shape after compression or deformation. It also allows plants to regenerate unaided after a natural disaster such as a hurricane.

Leveraging the weight of her unconscious, the dance of Annabel Guérédrat explores the potentialities for constructing a new space and displacing it. She probes the body's impact and its surprising ability to interrupt negative trajectories or play upon divergent inner tensions.

Through a visible process, space becomes a material to distend, to propel and sculpt.

Conceiving of the dance as a lifeline (whose task might be to prevent any possibility of turning towards destruction or despair), leaving the question of the centre to the west, resilience is an infantile dance rooted in a strong inner musicality, in progress to abstraction.

Harmonisation fadeur (#1, 2, 3, 4, 5)
Creations 2008 - Company Artincidence

Choreography, Annabel Guérédrat
Musicians Aurélien Besnard, Nicolas Crosse
Composers, Bedeckh, Christian Mason
Dancers: Antoine Carle, Annabel Guérédrat, Christelle Dronne, Clémentine Maubon, Anne Laure Pecot

"Harmonization fadeur" is a creation in progress, made up from several pieces, as a laboratory for research and experimentation on blandness from Chinese aesthetics and thinking.

The resulting pieces have the distinction of being written as scores, short and experimented with an audience in various contexts (outside, on a stage of a national theatre, a studio of dance).

All the process has been written in ROYAUMONT at the beginning of the artistic program which name is "Transform" with twelve other international choreographers in July 2008 to March 2009. And before the spectacular event, it is also chosen to make visible an upstream sensitive artistic experience

With three dancers

This multimedia piece is about melancholy. "Melancholy: meditative phase on the defeat of desires. Feelings of loss of humanity offset by a decline on the main body. There's a kind of resistance melancholy. After terror and loss, it becomes is an active melancholy, even a radiating melancholy which affirms men and women in their imperfection. "Catherine Grenier The contrast in emotions, essays on contemporary art, about visual artists Robert Morris and Peter Doig.

THE PRESS

The revue " Danser" No. 277 of June 2008
Feature Africa and the Caribbean by Agnès Izrine - " Tunis - Cuba same fight!"

"(...) The Caribbean Dance Biennial in Havana .

Based on the success of the choreographic festival "Encounters of Africa and the Indian Ocean", the program for the promotion of African creation of Culturesfrance is widening its horizons to include the Caribbean one and hope to repeat the same experience in this new area.

However, the artistic and geographic configuration is very different. The Caribbean is made up of isolated islands, encumbered by difficult communication between the islands and their diverse cultures, and their different standards of living.

It is no coincidence that CUBA was chosen as the host of the event. It was the only city to have the necessary infrastructure and to have, in terms of dance, history and culture, a high degree of experience.

(...) In the other countries within this zone, dancing is much less to celebrate. (...) It demanded a high level of determination and a large dose of ambition to launch this project and to unite the main players of dance in this region. Not to mention the courage displayed by all of the candidates, from Martinique, the Dominican Republic, Barbados, Jamaica and Trinidad and Tobago who where open to creating with little resources, no studio or theaters, and inexperienced dancers.

(...) For all these reasons, the first "Biennale Caribbean Dance" included a Group section and a Solo section, in order to those choreographers to be known to the Caribbean landscape.

The Group first prize was awarded to the company "Blo à Blo" while the Solo price was given to the Cuban choreographer Luvyen Medero.

(...) Other choreographers have been distinguished, such as Annabel Guérédrat (Martinica ) for her very authentic solo "resilience", such as Neila Ebanks (Jamaica), and such as Yanoski Suarez, all of whom promise a beautiful choreographic development in the coming years ... but as it was after all a competition, we had to make a hard choice."

HERAULT DU JOUR - Edition of March 7, 2008
Montpellier Dance - Annabel Guérédrat. The choreographer Montpellier creates two parts tonight at 20h at the Workshop Yann Lheureux - by Anne Leray

Tonight, Annabel Guérédrat will show two short pieces in the intimacy of the cozy studio Yann Lheureux. The two pieces "Resilience" and "Our glassing essence " were both inspired by articles in the French newspaper "Le Monde".

"Resilience" is about the possible regeneration following the phenomenon of a hurricane. "I read an article about Hurricane Dean signed in August 2007 in Martinique which included the ecological definition of the word "resilience": the ability of the vegetation to recover its growth after a natural disaster. There is also the physical definition of the term: the ability of a material to regain its shape after being deformed."

In this dance piece, the movement is very present. The scenic space is defined by a rectangle taped on the flour. The dancers play with the inner and the outer space defined by the rectangle, without going into the absolute middle of this space. The three solos of the dancers experiment with immobility and stillness, and the variations between these two oppositions.

In this dance undulating, compulsive and at times very animal, the body is a material that resists and is resilient to the shocks and the sufferance it is subjected to.

Masks, fetishes and totems are suggested; one feels the presence of Africa in what could be imagined as a ritual ceremony - Annabel Guérédrat born in New Caledonia , spent her childhood in the Congo and Senegal before moving to Martinica. In this refined contemporary dance, unique metisse energy flows.

You feel the wind, the nature, the emptiness, the loneliness, the suffering, the momentum between the dancers and their solidarity. We see three bodies that pass through various states of tension in an attempt to regain harmony.

The second piece is titled "Our glassing essence". In columns of the newspaper "Le Monde" in 2006, Annabel read article by the Israeli Amos Oz, Nobel Peace Prize: "He said, instead of criticizing the politicians, if you have the ability to do good things around you, so do it now!"

After reading theirs sentence, Annabel took her phone to have the number of prisons in the South and developed a project to do workshops in Nimes with the female inmates.

We find in this work, with its slow and oppressive atmosphere, the state of these women inmates. Annabel Guérédrat says : "They had great difficulty getting up in the mornings to attend the workshop ; they were unmotivated, depressed and felt humiliated by their situation."

The back of the bodies, face the wall, is trying to invariably stand up, although always falling and collapsing, before trying to get back up again. The time is filled by the repeating of the same movement, executed very slowly.

Here, Samuel Beckett (" Cap at worst") as well as Jean Claude Carrière (" Fragile" ) influenced the creation like the clarinet player and composer Aurélien Besnard whom "sings" the internal dimension of oppression."

35 years old, certificate in literature and history at university, also in contemporeany dance, she attended the teaching in butoh dance, Yoga, Feldenkrais, Pilates,Body Mind Centering.

She founded Artincidence in 2003. The name of the company is about the deviation from “straight on”, when something new occurs in the process of creation. In research, improvisation remains a great tool. Many creations were designed in situ on the memory of the place. What is new is that dance creations are written as scores.

For her today, dance is a thought in action. She wants to offer a new political vision in a performative way.

In 2008, she had been distinguished for her very authentic solo "Resilience" at the first “Biennale Caribbean Dance”.

With a certificate of contemporary dance, she gives workshops in prisons, in hospitals and to teenagers who are hard of hearing.
